Gypsum Natural is a horticultural calcium and sulphur fertiliser used to improve soil structure and water retention of heavy clay soils by loosening the clay, allowing for better drainage. As a fertiliser, gypsum is fast-acting and pH neutral while most other calcium fertilisers either raise or lower soil pH.

Gypsum is calcium sulphate di-hydrate (CaSO4 2H2O)
The bulk density of this gypsum product is 908 kg per m3 (loose) and 1,172 kg per m3 (compacted)
Gypsum mixes well with other dry fertilisers and can be used to assist in the uniform application of small quantities of zinc, manganese, boron and the other trace elements
Winstone Gypsum produces two gypsum products that are chemically identical: Soil Life®, a fine ground form, and Gypsum Natural, a coarser pulverised form
Gypsum has high purity with 93 to 98% calcium sulphate. Contains other minerals: sulphur 18% and calcium 23.26%
Conveniently, 1 kg of gypsum has a volume of approx 1 L (1 tonne has a volume of 1 m3). Quick inter-conversion between mass and volume simplifies accurate measurement. Gypsum is easy and safe to apply using conventional dry-spreading equipment.
Application rate
Apply approximately 0.5 kg per square metre. Mix into the soil and then water well.
Application timing
Gypsum relies upon rainfall to solubilise it, so the best time to apply is in early spring or after harvest when rainfall occurs. Apply in calm or at the most 'light breeze' (one to two knots) conditions. This avoids large amounts being blown away from the target area.
