Fun at National Fieldays ®
For four days each June, Mystery Creek hosts the largest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere. Thousands march through the gates of National Fieldays ® event to make connections, find the deals, and explore innovations and new opportunities.
PGG Wrightson (PGW) was there with a strong representation of our local Waikato team from store staff to livestock representatives, promotions and site competitions, some exciting new initiatives and a hospitality area serving slow-cooked lamb and hot coffees. Even the new podcast, Blue Shed Diary, got in amongst it to interview Ministers, Politicians, Farmers, Conservationists, Innovators, and more!
Visiting the site, were young and old, farmers and growers, first-timers and old-hands.
"Fieldays is a great way to give back to the community and thank our loyal customers. It's also about connecting our team with people we haven't met before. The vibe and atmosphere of the marquee has been great. I get really excited seeing all our staff across the various services we offer working together to ensure a great experience when visitors walk in," says PGG Wrightson Regional Manager for the Upper North Island Dave McMillin.
A great deal of planning, at least eight months, goes into each Fieldays event. For PGG Wrightson Events Coordinator Ben Innes, it is important to bring back the things our customers love and take the opportunity to introduce somthing they have not seen before.
“This year we introduced the innovation hub to our site. It showcased new technology and initiatives like SkyCount, our Fruitfed Supplies UV light trial research and our new partnership with Norsewear as well as some of the unique services we, and our suppliers, have to offer. We want to highlight what we are doing to help future generations of farmers,” says Ben.
Another first, broadcasting from the biggest blue shed at Mystery Creek. PGG Wrightson’s new podcast, Blue Shed Diary, spoke with the movers and shakers of the Primary Industry.
“We spoke with Politicians from both sides of the aisle, Innovators, Educators, Farmers, Award Winners, Conservationists and more! Taking chats from our stores or farm gate, out to the world to inspire larger conversations about our what will help all of us prosper, is important,” explains podcast host and PGG Wrightson Technical Team Manager Milton Munro.
