Introducing the PGG Wrightson Dargaville store team

A dedicated bunch of people is how Mark Kapa, PGG Wrightson Dargaville Store Manager, describes his team.

The Dargaville store services sheep and beef farmers and dairy farms along with local horticultural growers. The team is experienced in meeting the needs of a business, no matter how unique. Visit in-store and you’ll be greeted by Customer Service Representatives, Jo, Matt and Raewyn. Out in-the-field is Technical Field Representative, Mark.

“We have a loyal customer base who value us being locals,” says Mark. “Raewyn, Mark and I live locally, while Matt and Jo own properties here too. We have customers whose grandparents and parents were customers and now the third generation visits the store.”

“Our point of difference is the service we offer and the team’s strong culture. Farmers come to the store and appreciate receiving a warm welcome. We want to deliver an enjoyable in-store experience as we care about our customer’s wellbeing as well as their business. People are the most important element to our business, if the team is happy, this will flow on to our customers,” says Mark.

“To improve the store experience, we recently refurbished, making it easier for our team to greet people as they arrive. We also redesigned the layout so it is now even easier for us to assist our customers with finding solutions in-store.”

Visit the Dargaville store and you’ll be greeted by the team whose technical knowledge allows them to tailor solutions to fit a customer’s needs. “A sheep and beef farmer rang wanting product as he had run out part way through drenching,” Mark explains. “Technical Field Representative, Mark, formulated a solution using product we had in-store so the farmer could continue drenching and finish that day. To minimise the interruption for the farmer, one of our team jumped in a truck and met him halfway so he didn’t have to make the 50-minute drive to Dargaville to pick up the product.”

As Mark says, this technical knowledge is valued by long time farmers as well as those new to the industry. “Along with our Iwi Relationship Managers, we offer local Māori farmers new to farming our expertise which helps them build a successful business.”

Mark is proud of the team who go above and beyond for their customers every day. He acknowledges their success comes down to working well together. The team’s technical and local knowledge, along with their strong customer relationships, is why Mark believes the store is an important part of the Dargaville community.
