Introducing the PGG Wrightson Gore store team

Building enduring customer relationships is what motivates the Gore team to go the extra mile says Murray Johnston, PGG Wrightson Gore Store Manager.

The store services sheep and beef, arable and dairy farmers along with those on lifestyle blocks. Visit in-store and you’ll be greeted by Customer Service Representatives, Laura, Todd, Nicole, Peita and Jess. Out in-the-field are Technical Field Representatives, Roger, Paul, Lester and John, along with Arable Representatives Nick and Campbell.

With the majority of the team having worked with PGG Wrightson for eight plus years, the Gore team has plenty of knowledge and experience to share with customers.

“We plan for the season ahead to ensure we’re offering the right products at the right time. Our customers can then be confident they will be able to purchase the product they need, or we have the technical knowledge to be able to recommend a suitable alternative. The experience of this team also means we understand that asking questions makes a big difference when tailoring a solution to fit a customer’s needs,” says Murray.

“We offer a good delivery service as not every farmer can get to the store. This allows us to get the product up farm drives as quickly as possible, understanding that timing is important for many applications. I know our customers really appreciate the amount of effort we put into providing the best service possible.”

Creating an enjoyable store experience begins with a happy team and Murray says the culture at PGG Wrightson and team environment created by the Gore team is something he is proud of.

“Our aim,” says Murray, “is to continue growing the Gore store and creating greater awareness of the full range of products we have available in-store. For instance, if a farmer purchases arable and agrichemical products with us, they can also purchase their fencing, irrigation and animal health products too.”

Murray is impressed by the training available to the store teams. He says this investment by PGG Wrightson to boost the team’s technical knowledge allows them to provide up-to-date advice and recommendations. “With the team’s level of technical know-how, we are able to confidently discuss products with our customers and this allows us to develop stronger relationships as farmers trust our recommendations.”

It’s not just in-store that you’ll find the team as Murray explains. “We’re locals, living and working here so we enjoy being involved in the wider community through different sports activities including football, hockey and curling.”

Murray encourages anyone living in and around Gore to visit the PGG Wrightson store and enjoy the friendly experience where he knows you’ll benefit from the team’s technical and local knowledge.
